Qualitative Researcher
Pay Rate: $60.00-$65.00/hour · Location: Remote (U.S.) · Duration: 6-Month Contract (Potential Extension)
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Qualitative Researcher to join a collaborative Research team. In this role, you will independently lead end-to-end qualitative research projects that uncover customer needs, behaviors, motivations, and pain points. Your research will directly influence product development, customer experience, marketing strategies, and key business decisions. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned researcher who enjoys working independently, partnering with cross-functional teams, and transforming customer insights into actionable recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Lead qualitative research projects from planning through synthesis and presentation.
- Design and execute qualitative research studies, including:
- In-depth interviews (IDIs)
- Focus groups
- Diary studies
- Concept testing
- Usability research
- Journey mapping
- Develop research plans, discussion guides, moderator guides, and study materials aligned with business objectives.
- Independently moderate customer interviews and focus groups using strong facilitation and probing techniques.
- Analyze qualitative data to identify themes, customer needs, pain points, and business opportunities.
- Translate research findings into clear, actionable recommendations supported by customer evidence.
- Create executive-level presentations and communicate insights to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Marketing, Analytics, and Research teams to ensure research informs strategic decision-making.
- Maintain organized research documentation and contribute to research best practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience conducting qualitative research in an agency or in-house research environment.
- Demonstrated expertise across a wide range of qualitative research methodologies.
- Strong ability to design research that answers complex business questions.
- Exceptional analytical, synthesis, and storytelling skills.
- Ability to translate customer insights into actionable business recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within financial services, fintech, retirement, banking, or other regulated industries.
- Experience supporting segmentation, concept testing, brand positioning, digital products, and customer experience initiatives.
- Familiarity with research platforms such as Dovetail, UserTesting, User Interviews, Qualtrics, Miro, or similar tools.
- Experience collaborating with quantitative researchers and utilizing mixed-method research approaches.
Pay
$60.00 - $65.00/hour
Schedule
Full-Time, 40 hours/week
