This is a full-time position with priority for 2nd shift availability. Hours can be flexible throughout the week, with a typical shift from 12pm–8pm.

About the Role

The MRSS Qualified Mental Health Specialist (QMHS) provides Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) to youth (ages 2–20) and families who contact the crisis hotline. The QMHS responds face-to-face (in person or via video conferencing) with another MRSS team member to high-risk crisis situations within one hour to assess the youth and stabilize the family. After the initial 72 hours, the family receives ongoing stabilization and care coordination services in various community settings for up to 42 days. The team provides support, including education and consultation for parents/caregivers, case coordination, and symptom management and monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mobile response to family-identified crises within one hour.
  • Engage youth and families to de-escalate crises and assess risk.
  • Facilitate hospitalization for clients as necessary.
  • Assist with completing the CANS assessment and developing a safety plan and MRSS plan.
  • Provide ongoing stabilization services for up to six weeks.
  • Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with licensing and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain client confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines and agency policies.
  • Engage clients, families, and supportive adults in the treatment planning process.
  • Accept case assignments and collaborate with community organizations, schools, healthcare providers, and other agencies involved with the client.
  • Deliver QMHS services, including:
    • Development/review of treatment plans
    • Crisis intervention and support
    • Education and consultation for families regarding mental health
    • Individual interventions and symptom monitoring
    • Coordination of evaluations, referrals, and linkages to services
    • Follow-up to ensure services meet client needs
    • Connecting clients to community resources
  • Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Attend staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training.
  • Maintain current certifications, licensure, and ethical/professional standards.

Requirements

  • Education: Minimum high school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Licensure: Must complete agency training for Qualified Mental Health Specialist Certification after hire.
  • Experience: Minimum three years working with youth and families in a mental health setting.
  • Other:
    • First Aid and CPR training (provided by agency).
    • Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting agency insurance underwriting criteria.
    • Approval to transport clients in your own vehicle.
