About the role

Bristol Dental School is a city-centre, state-of-the-art facility (1 Trinity Quay, Avon Street, Bristol) delivering a new operating model with established ways of working since opening in Summer 2023. We are seeking a self-motivated dental nurse to work flexibly across multidisciplinary areas in our new 119-chair clinical facility, adhering to school policies and procedures. You will support the Lead Dental Nurse in the day-to-day running of clinical operations and contribute to the delivery of education in this predominantly teaching environment, providing direct clinical care to patients in our community. Opportunities for in-house CPD are available.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to dental students, working flexibly across different clinics within the Dental School.
  • Promote safe working practices and guidance to underpin the training of dental nurses, dental undergraduates, and future postgraduate students.
  • Prepare and rotate within clinical areas and the clinical skills suite, setting up clinical bays in individual departments and providing chairside assistance to staff and students as required.
  • Manage materials and supplies, including ordering, stocktaking, and maintaining equipment, arranging repairs when necessary.
  • Provide guidance and training in dental nursing and dental imaging techniques, or work towards training in dental imaging within departmental radiology spaces.
  • Highlight the importance of Quality Assurance, Health & Safety, and Infection Prevention Control during induction and throughout clinical placements for trainee dental nurses and dental undergraduates.

Requirements

  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to motivate others to achieve results.
  • Organised, with the ability to support and deliver a full range of dental nursing duties across clinical departments, dental radiology, and dental laboratories.
  • Hold a dental nurse qualification and be registered with the General Dental Council.

Schedule

Three positions available:

  • 2x full-time (35 hours per week)
  • 1x part-time (21 hours per week)

Pay

Grade: F

Salary: £28,778–£32,080 per annum (£15.81–£17.63 per hour, based on 35 hours per week).

Contract type: Open-ended.
