About the Role
Under general direction of the Production Supervisor and/or Quality Manager, the Quality Control Technician coordinates the implementation of quality standards and systems, monitors to ensure standards are met, improves systems, tests product and process characteristics in a control environment, helps troubleshoot problems, and ensures compliance with both internal (regional, national managers) and external (industry codes, local, state, and federal regulations) requirements.
Responsibilities
- Comply with Company Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Utilize systems methodology to conduct business activities.
- Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of raw materials, in-process materials, environmental samples, finished goods, and other samples.
- Complete documentation needed to support testing procedures including data capture forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms.
- Identify product quality problems and recommend solutions.
- Calibrate, validate, and maintain laboratory and QA equipment.
- Follow standards established to carry out troubleshooting, testing, calibration, organization, and project management.
- Reduce color variation in the manufacturing process, manage quality forms control, and database entry.
- Perform and document dry and wet tile testing as per the QC plan (XRite checks, AC Ratio, Absorption, TBS, Permeability, Gapping, Stacking, Walkability).
- Monitor testing procedures to ensure all tests are performed according to established item specifications, standard test methods, or protocols.
- Log testing results into SAP and release finished goods per Control Plan.
- Report all product exceptions as per non-conforming materials procedures.
- Monitor color consistency and overall quality during extrusion, stacking, and once the product reaches the yard.
- Issue and control color formulas to ensure accuracy on the production floor and color visual standards.
- Print and verify pallet labels.
- Perform frequent visual inspections of wet side processes and activities daily.
- Perform visual inspection of finished goods daily.
- Conduct monthly pallet audits to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure lab cleanliness and safety standards are maintained.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, equipment manuals, and company manuals and procedures.
- Demonstrate manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
- Good communication skills and ability to read, speak, and write English (bilingual Spanish helpful).
- Ability to observe, identify, deduce, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
- Quick learner and ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Math and computer skills.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in a relevant skill or trade.
- 1 - 2 years' experience in a relevant field.
