Piper Companies is seeking a QC Specialist with analytical and microbiology experience to join a leading biotechnology company developing next-generation allogeneic cell therapies for oncology. This is an onsite, long-term contract assignment in Branchburg, NJ, with potential for conversion.
Responsibilities
- Perform analytical flow cytometry (enumeration/viability) and cell counting using Vi-Cell Blue instrumentation
- Conduct PCR-based testing using Quant Studio 6/7 instrumentation, including RNA-based methods for Mycoplasma and sterility testing (e.g., MycoSeq, SteriSeq)
- Process mammalian cell culture samples
- Execute rapid microbial methods, including PCR-based (SteriSeq, MycoSeq) and CO₂ respiration/ATP bioluminescence methods (e.g., BAC-T, Celsis)
- Perform traditional sterility testing (USP), Mycoplasma testing, and endotoxin testing (gel clot or kinetic chromogenic methods using Biotek/MCS plate readers)
- Conduct growth promotion, microbial, and bioburden testing (TAMC/TYMC)
- Work in BSC Level 2 environments, with potential exposure to RABS or enclosures
- Adhere to gowning protocols in Grade A–D (ISO5–ISO9) cleanrooms
- Support environmental monitoring (EM) activities as needed
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline
- 4+ years of experience in a development or cGMP laboratory setting
- Experience with cell-based assays, flow cytometry, and PCR assays
- Knowledge of cell culture and aseptic technique
- BSL Level 2 experience (required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting cell therapy products
- Gowning experience in Grade A–D (ISO5–ISO9) cleanrooms
- Experience with RABS or enclosures
Pay
$85,000–$95,000 on a W2 contract rate, depending on experience.
