About the role

This role involves testing and inspecting raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and other laboratory samples at the Sparks facility. The position operates on the 3rd shift from 10:45 PM to 7:15 AM.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and receives samples in the LIMS system.
  • Performs physical and organoleptic testing on various materials.
  • Records and compares results against specifications and initiates OOS investigations.
  • Operates and calibrates laboratory equipment, including pH meters, FTIR, NIR, disintegration apparatus, moisture analyzers, and more.
  • Enters laboratory test results into worksheets, Excel spreadsheets, LIMS, and Access databases.
  • Performs metal detector checks and temperature checks as needed.
  • Answers phone calls, emails, and two-way radio calls, and follows up promptly.
  • Maintains daily logs and equipment logbooks, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment.
  • Restocks personal protective equipment (PPE) in the lab when needed.
  • Uploads documents to Epicor accurately, enters Product codes/Lot numbers/Stability numbers and REQ numbers, and final reviews paperwork in the Epicor system.
  • Performs retest and/or root cause analysis for any samples in OOS.
  • Prioritizes liquid and powder mix samples for testing.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 0-2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Familiarity with general laboratory equipment.
  • Proven ability to accurately conduct physical and organoleptic testing and inspect raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and other laboratory samples according to set standards and SOPs.
  • Reads, understands, and follows SOPs.
  • Sound knowledge of testing and inspection processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently meet quality, safety, and efficiency goals.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Good time management skills; ability to work well independently; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills: ability to work and communicate effectively with others; strong attention to detail skills; and demonstrated high quality of work.
  • Demonstrates and promotes company core values.
  • Consistently follows all company policies and procedures, including all safety policies and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills required in Word, Outlook email, and Excel.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends to support the business.
