QC Microbiology Technician

About the role

Performs routine environmental monitoring, critical utilities sampling, and microbiological assays on raw materials, in-process, and final products. Uses sophisticated laboratory instrumentation and computer systems (e.g., LIMS) to collect and record data. Works under minimum/general supervision, following SOPs to generate results and escalating non-routine issues or out-of-specification results to a supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sampling activities and microbiological assays requiring precise analytical skills and an understanding of microbiology principles.
  • Complete all testing and sampling in a timely manner adhering to aseptic practices.
  • Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with company SOPs, FDA, GLP, QSR, and cGMP regulations.
  • Perform laboratory and safety audits as required.
  • Maintain proficiency in wet and instrumental methods of analyses.
  • Manage inventory and supplies necessary to conduct routine testing and sampling.
  • Follow continuous improvement practices (5S, etc.).
  • Escalate excursions and complex issues per procedure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biological Science with Analytical Chemistry or Microbiology laboratory coursework, and 0-2 years' experience.
  • Advanced laboratory skills and basic knowledge of statistical methods.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and in a timely fashion.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment including autoclaves, incubators, and analytical equipment.
  • Proficiency in mathematical operations, calculations, and both metric and US standards of measurement.
  • Ability to read and follow detailed written instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic chemical and biological safety procedures.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Schedule

Weekend shift: Thursday – Sunday, 1:30 PM – Midnight.
