QC Lead Chemist

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and mentor junior chemists, providing training and guidance on laboratory procedures and equipment.
  • Train QC Chemist on proper documentation and provide action plans if standards are not met.
  • Cover bench responsibilities and hours if QC Chemist is unable to do so.
• Quality Control:
  • Ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of products through routine and specialized testing.
  • Maintain compliance with industry regulations and safety protocols.
  • Ensure all personnel in the lab have proper PPE.
  • Monitor bench operations and provide leadership.
  • Conduct assessments of the QC Chemist.
• Technical Expertise:
  • Design and execute experiments, synthesize and analyze chemical compounds, and utilize advanced analytical techniques.
  • Expert in technical adjustments and troubleshooting.
  • Escalate advanced issues to QC Manager or R&D if needed.
• Data Analysis and Interpretation:
  • Analyze experimental data, draw meaningful conclusions, and prepare reports.
  • Provide troubleshooting support and escalate to QC Manager if unable to resolve.
• Laboratory Operations:
  • Oversee laboratory operations, ensuring proper maintenance and operation of equipment.
  • Report calibration issues and equipment problems to QC Manager.
• Process Improvement:
  • Identify and implement improvements to laboratory processes and methodologies.
  • Promote continuous improvement and ownership of quality in the manufacturing plant.
• Communication and Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project objectives and meet specifications.
  • Communicate information between shifts, leads, and managers.
  • Relay information to Ops or other departments as directed by QC Manager.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science.
• Experience:
  • 5+ years of wet chemistry testing experience.
  • Statistical Process Control and Data Analysis experience.
  • PC skills and strong problem-solving abilities, especially in technical matters.
  • Effective communication skills across all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to take a leadership role in Quality Assurance matters.
  • Experience excelling in a team environment.
  • Some management or lead experience preferred.
