About the role

The QC Laboratory Support Technician (Technician II, QC Laboratory Support) works as part of a team dedicated to supporting Quality Control laboratory operations. This role focuses on managing analytical testing samples and backups, analytical standards, assay controls, laboratory reagents, and overall laboratory inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate routinely with laboratory analysts to ensure they have all required supplies, reagents, and materials prior to testing initiation.
  • Use a variety of information management systems and tools to manage inventory and logistics for samples, standards, assay controls, critical reagents, consumables, and other items that support QC laboratory operations.
  • Support laboratory analysts with non-billable activities such as glassware handling and labeling, laboratory waste management, laboratory inspections and walkthroughs, labeling tasks, and maintenance of kanban and 5S systems.
  • Afford assistance with the creation and monitoring of purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and other procurement processes to ensure timely fulfillment of laboratory inventory requirements.
  • Collect, wash, and re-distribute laboratory glassware in a consistent and organized manner.
  • Manage the transport of laboratory waste to designated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) drop-off areas in accordance with site procedures.
  • Afford support with laboratory preventive maintenance (PM) activities where appropriate and as directed.
  • Perform additional laboratory support duties, including future non-billable and non-critical tasks, as needed to help the department meet its goals.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to inventory, glassware handling, labeling, and other support activities, with strong attention to detail.
  • Apply knowledge of GMP/GLP and cGMP practices to daily work to support quality and compliance in the laboratory environment.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of a high school diploma.
  • 0–3 years of experience working in a GMP-regulated environment.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a GLP/GMP laboratory or GMP manufacturing facility in a laboratory or quality role.
  • Working knowledge of GMP regulations in a GMP environment.
  • Knowledge of cGMP practices and aseptic techniques.
  • Experience or familiarity with quality assurance and quality control concepts in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience with sample preparation, sample management, and laboratory preparation activities.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially in cleaning and handling glassware and in completing documentation accurately.
  • Ability to support laboratory operations through non-testing tasks such as inventory management, labeling, and waste handling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree, preferably in a STEM discipline.
  • Working experience in a cGMP Quality Control laboratory.
  • Working experience with sample labeling systems.
  • Working experience with inventory management systems.
  • Pharmacy technician experience, particularly in a regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with kanban and 5S systems for organizing laboratory workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to support quality-focused environments such as GMP/GLP laboratories or manufacturing facilities.
  • Interest in a contract-to-hire opportunity contingent on strong performance.
