QC Lab Technician – Ready Mix Concrete
About the role
BURNCO is seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our team at the Krugerville Plant. This is a full-time, permanent, field-based position dedicated to supporting our ready-mix operations through material testing, mix monitoring, job site inspections, and quality troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Conduct quality control tests on ready-mix concrete, including slump, air content, unit weight, and strength testing
- Conduct quality control tests on aggregates, including sieve analysis, sand equivalent, and materials finer than #200 (decant) testing
- Sample and test raw materials such as cement, fly ash and admixtures for compliance with specifications
- Document and analyze test results, identifying and addressing any inconsistencies or deviations
- Aid in developing and modifying concrete mix designs to meet project specifications
- Ensure compliance with ASTM, ACI, DOT, and company-specific quality standards
- Maintain calibration and proper operation of testing equipment
- Support the implementation of quality control and safety policies and procedures
- Enter test data into data management system
- Follow proper company policies, procedures, laws, and regulations including OSHA safety and quality standards
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in ready-mix concrete quality control, construction materials testing, or a related field
- ACI or TxDOT certifications are preferred, or willingness to obtain them
- Strong understanding of concrete properties, mix designs, and testing procedures
- Ability to interpret technical data, document results, and prepare reports
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in construction materials, engineering, or a related field is an asset

- Ability to interpret technical data, document results, and prepare reports
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail

Pay
$20.00 - $23.00 / hour
Schedule
This is a full-time permanent field-based position with Monday to Friday, 40 or more hours per week.
Location
This position is located at the Krugerville Plant.

- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
- This is a safety sensitive position, offers of employment are conditional on successful completion of fitness for duty assessments, including drug and alcohol screening and a criminal background check
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, vests, and glasses, ear plugs, and hard hats, with additional PPE for special jobs as required
- Must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions and challenging outdoor environments
- Occasional standing, walking, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and pushing or pulling as needed
