QC Lab Tech

About the role

This position is responsible to perform quality assurance testing, analysis and interpretation of results pertinent to finished goods. Such analysis applies to Magnesium Chloride, Potassium Sulfate and Salt products. Performs function in a safe, accurate and efficient manner. Is also responsible for the inspection, cleaning and general care of assigned area and associated testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Routine Daily Testing and Analysis
• Sorts all samples by product and status i.e. in process or finished goods.
• Conducts a variety of tests to determine chemical composition, including K2O, Na, Cl, SO4, Mg and NH4 content specific to given sample(s).
• Also assesses color, solubility, turbidity, particle size, friability, dust and H2O relative to established quality standards.
• Performs mathematical computations associated with sample assessments.
• Mixes chemicals to create proper reagents.
• Documents all results and makes computer entries as required.
• Performs calibrations and minor repairs to testing equipment.
• May be required to physically secure samples from appropriate in-process and/or storage facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related Science preferred.
• Three plus years of related experience, demonstrating the ability to function as a member of a team in multi-functional operation.
• PC proficiency and ability to quickly enter information into Excel.
• Navigate probe system and reconcile inventory issues.
• Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to effectively articulate problems/concerns to a wide variety of plant personnel. Must be able to, interpret, understand and follow complex written and verbal instructions.
• Written Communication - Must possess writing skills which allow for effective communications through written reports and log entries.
