QA Test Automation Engineer / Hybrid in Chicago Suburbs
About the role
A growing healthcare technology organization is seeking a full-time QA Test Automation Engineer to join its engineering team. This remote position offers the opportunity to shape testing standards, define automation strategy, and influence how quality is measured across the software development lifecycle. You’ll work with technologies including Flutter, .NET/C#, BrowserStack, REST APIs, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and modern CI/CD practices to build and scale automated testing solutions across web applications, mobile platforms, APIs, and cloud-based systems.
The selected engineer will become the organization’s quality champion, solving complex testing challenges, introducing best practices, and creating scalable automation frameworks that directly impact product success. The role provides strong visibility within engineering leadership and the ability to contribute to long-term technology decisions.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement automated testing frameworks
- Create end-to-end, integration, and API test suites
- Develop testing strategies across desktop and mobile environments
- Partner with engineering, DevOps, and product teams
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD workflows
- Analyze quality trends and improve release confidence
- Perform root-cause analysis on intermittent test failures
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives around software quality

Requirements
- 5+ years of software test automation experience
- Experience developing UI and end-to-end automated tests
- Strong API testing experience utilizing REST services and JSON
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of automation frameworks and testing methodologies
- Experience supporting web and mobile application testing
- Familiarity with Git-based source control environments
- Experience with defect tracking tools such as Jira or Azure Boards
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing Flutter applications
- Experience with BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, or similar cloud testing platforms
- Exposure to .NET/C# environments
- Experience supporting Salesforce or other CRM integrations
- Experience implementing quality metrics and reporting
- Leadership experience influencing engineering best practices
- Experience evaluating and selecting automation tools
