QA Tech- Protein Conversion RE

Under general supervision, perform a variety of routine laboratory operations in accordance with quality assurance standards. Duties include taking measurements, conducting routine quantitative and qualitative chemical analytical tests, performing calculations, and evaluating physical characteristics. Uses standard laboratory glassware and equipment or one or two complex pieces of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all Quality Assurance policies and regulations; model and coach these expectations to facility team members.
• Complete inspections to verify product meets internal and customer specifications; take appropriate actions when non-compliance is observed.
• Accurately conduct product reviews to meet product grading, packaging, and weight compliance procedures.
• Monitor team members' work practices and address deficiencies by informing the team member and reporting issues to the supervisor.
• Monitor product processing areas and practices to mitigate potential for foreign material contamination.
• Inspect equipment for cleanliness and proper working condition prior to start-up or during process; record findings legibly.
• Collect, track, and implement numerical data; communicate effectively with all levels of management.
• Perform laboratory work according to prescribed Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
• Determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of samples.
• Set up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment and instruments; analyze samples.
• Perform laboratory tests according to GLPs, including testing for nutritional properties of feed, ingredients, and pesticides.
• Audit production floor, offal room, storage rooms, shipping and receiving areas, and staging area to ensure cleanliness from previous shift.
• Release the plant after ensuring all pallets/tubs entering production are clean and free of damage; report any foreign material.
• Ensure combo washer is working properly by checking washed tubs; report issues to QA supervisor, Maintenance, or Production.
• Check all metal detectors for proper function; report any issues using proper forms/documentation.
• Perform temperature checks of product, coolers, freezers, and production area reefers; record finished product temperatures.
• Record all finished product produced and sample results in SharePoint; critically analyze data, including creation of Certificates of Analysis (COA) per Bill of Lading (BOL).
• Record all new packaging material/charcoal; report any raw material issues before production (e.g., temperature, foreign material, quality).
• Record all product shipped in SharePoint; record specifications in SharePoint.
• Quarterly review and train all employees on Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs) if necessary.
• Work closely with production leads to ensure production area is properly cleaned at all times, including before breaks.
• Complete Glass and Brittle Plastic forms monthly.
• Work closely with supervisor on rejected raw materials; submit all forms following CGMP.
• Test samples to verify conformity to specifications; record test results.
• Clean laboratory equipment and calibrate laboratory instruments.
• Handle chemicals safely.

Requirements

• Ability to work varying days, including weekends, when processing schedules change.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating efficiently and cooperatively with coworkers and leadership teams.
• Ability to move, open, and inspect plant-produced products.
• Ability to stand on concrete surfaces up to four continuous hours, with a minimum of 8 hours per shift.
• Physically able to navigate all areas of the processing facility and follow all safety procedures.
• Ability to perform strenuous work in a damp environment with a wide range of temperatures and aromas.
• Dependable, prompt, with strong integrity and work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and exhibit CGMP values to uphold Quality Assurance programs.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions and learn methods and practices used in protein conversion.

Pay

$18.10 per hour + $1.00 per hour shift differential.
