Our Britt, Iowa facility is an egg processing plant specializing in breaking, pasteurization, and dried egg production. Responsibilities

This position ensures that products meet Food Safety and Quality requirements through the implementation and monitoring of Quality Systems programs, mentoring these programs across all facility departments, and reinforcing Safety as a Core Value.

  • Ensure Food Safety and Quality of MFI products.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality.
  • Report conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
  • Follow USDA, FSIS, FDA, Customer, and MFI guidelines.
  • Collect in-process and finished product samples; perform tests for compliance with MFI and customer specifications (e.g., salt and solids, pH, temperature, package integrity, moisture, weight, sensory).
  • Use SAP to access and print product specifications, formulas, and mixing instructions.
  • Assist in training production employees on food safety and quality requirements.
  • Perform pre-operational and operational inspections of production areas; report deficiencies to leads or supervisors.
  • Check containers for proper coding and labeling to meet USDA and MFI standards.
  • Monitor label-declared weights on all products produced.
  • Inspect incoming ingredients.
  • Calibrate pH meters, thermometers, and scales to ensure equipment accuracy.
  • Follow up on defective equipment and report abnormalities to production staff or FSQ management.
  • Perform rechecks of out-of-spec products and initiate holds as necessary.
  • Conduct FSQ program requirements such as air flow checks, silo temperature readings, shelf-life sampling, environmental swabbing, water testing, and air plate testing.
  • Serve as a qualified backup for FSQ Tech – SSL Tankers and FSQ Tech – Dryers; participate in weekend coverage rotation.
  • Provide Certificates of Analysis (COAs) to customers requesting finished product test results; notify drivers of product release (SSL Tankers only).
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of work performed and test results.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned; cover job duties in absence of another qualified FSQ Technician or FSQ Supervisor.
  • Promote a safe and healthy workplace; adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
  • 1–3 months of related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations in English.
  • Basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, computation of rate/ratio/percent, and interpretation of bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic cooking and organoleptic skills.
  • Self-motivated.
