About the role
The AI-Powered QA Engineer IV is a senior technical leadership role on Team Artemis responsible for setting the direction of quality engineering at Planet DDS. This individual contributor will own the QA strategy across automated, AI-assisted, and exploratory testing — and will lead the existing outsourced QA team toward a modern, AI-native testing model.
Job Duties
- Define and own the QA strategy and roadmap for Team Artemis, setting direction across automated testing, AI-assisted testing, and quality standards for the department
- Design, implement and maintain the automated testing framework for SaaS products
- Mentor and train other team members on automation, quality practices and principles
- Contribute to code reviews, design reviews, effort estimates, task breakdowns, and other team discussions
- Assess and raise risks across the Planet DDS solution
- Work with the engineering team continuously improving the performance, scalability, and reliability of Planet DDS products
- Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to design and deploy new features
- Learn about the latest tools and patterns consistent with your role
- Lead, manage, and grow the outsourced QA team within Team Artemis, establishing clear standards, accountability, and a culture of quality across the extended team
- Architect and implement end-to-end test automation solutions using Playwright and Claude Code, covering smoke tests, regression suites, and full E2E workflows across Planet DDS SaaS products
- Drive adoption of AI-native testing practices across the engineering organization, including agentic test generation, AI-assisted defect triage, and Claude Code-based test automation workflows
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Claude Code-based test automation, programming and maintaining AI agents for test execution, coverage analysis, and quality reporting
- Collaborate across large, distributed engineering teams to ensure comprehensive end-to-end coverage of complex SaaS product workflows, from API layer through UI and integrations
Skills and Qualifications
- 8-11 years of experience in software engineering development, test, and/or QA role
- Track record using AI-powered software testing tools like Applitools, Testim, Mabl, TestRigor, TestComplete, UI-TARS, Midscene, and Puppeteer; strong hands-on Playwright experience for browser automation at scale is required
- Experience in automation testing and building automation frameworks from the ground up
- Experience in programming (ideally JavaScript/TypeScript and/or C#)
- Experience with: Test case management techniques, technologies, and approaches
- Experience with Jira & Zephyr Scale would be beneficial
- Knowledge of how to characterize different risk scenarios (Examples: functional/closed-box, boundary, verification and validation, acceptance, load, stress, performance, HA/DR)
- Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to engage throughout the department and the company to achieve goals
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code or Anthropic AI APIs, including writing prompts, custom agents, or agentic workflows for engineering or testing use cases
- Demonstrated ability to lead or technically influence a QA or engineering team, including offshore or outsourced teams; flexible, clear-communicating, and decisive under ambiguity
- Experience working within large, cross-functional engineering teams with ownership of end-to-end automation coverage across complex, multi-product SaaS platforms is huge plus
- Healthcare or dental industry domain knowledge is a strong plus; understanding of clinical workflows, compliance requirements (HIPAA), and data sensitivity in dental practice management software accelerates ramp-up significantly

Pay
Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is also eligible for variable pay as part of the total compensation package.
