About the Role
Sweetwater, the nation’s #1 online retailer of pro audio equipment and music instruments, is seeking a QA Engineer to join our growing software quality assurance team. In this role, you will analyze product quality of our software applications, design effective test plans for new features, execute tests, collaborate with developers to resolve issues, and produce clear bug reports. This position is the final step in the iterative development process before production release and requires high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. You will also contribute to automated testing solutions to prevent critical regression defects.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual and automated software QA testing
- Coordinate ticket assignments and collaborate with QA, Web/4D, and Desktop teams to complete tasks
- Test and script incoming software from Development Teams
- Identify, analyze, and document problems with program function, output, or content
- Monitor bug resolution efforts and track successes
- Utilize Jira to manage incoming tickets and resolve software bugs with urgency
- Write and maintain automated end-to-end tests using modern frameworks such as Cypress and languages like JavaScript & Python
Qualifications
- Experience testing web or native applications (MacOS)
- Proficiency in modern software QA best practices (functional and non-functional testing)
- Effective and articulate communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with a creative edge to discover defects under various customer personas
- Team player with excellent collaboration skills
- Passion for growth in learning new technologies and tools to support testing strategy
- Knowledge of Git version-control system
- Familiarity with agile development processes and Kanban project-management workflow (preferred)
- Experience writing and maintaining automated end-to-end tests using frameworks such as Cypress, and languages like JavaScript and Python
- Familiarity with accessibility testing and WCAG standards (bonus)
- Familiarity with application life-cycle management tools, including CI/CD processes (preferred)
- Understanding of client/server interaction and network protocols
- Basic understanding of query languages (such as SQL) and relational database-management tools (preferred)
- ISTQB Foundation Level certification (a plus)
