The position requires experience with test automation frameworks, scripting (Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript), intermediate SQL Server/PostgreSQL skills, and knowledge of API and performance testing.
Responsibilities
- Work with colleagues to develop and maintain automated test suites for PMA's web applications (UI, API, and data layers).
- Design and write automated test scripts using tools such as Playwright or similar frameworks, including data-driven test cases.
- Solicit input from end-users and developers to define test plans, acceptance criteria, and regression coverage for new features.
- Build reusable test utilities, page objects, and libraries to reduce duplication and improve test maintainability.
- Validate API responses (REST/GraphQL) for correctness, performance, and error handling, and write scripts to support load/performance testing (e.g., k6).
- Write and execute SQL queries against SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases to validate data integrity and support root cause analysis.
- Analyze test results and reports (HTML, Allure, JUnit) to identify trends, flaky tests, and areas of risk.
- Optimize the speed, reliability, and scalability of automated test suites.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, including identifying patterns and trends across test failures and production defects.
- Ability to multi-task, display good judgment, and work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods (including version control and defect management), and tools.
- Strong practical computer competence, including familiarity with relational databases and SQL (SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL).
- Experience writing automated test scripts using a modern UI testing framework (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium).
- Ability to write Python code and scripts for data validation, reconciliation, or auxiliary tooling.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript for building and maintaining test automation frameworks.
- Understanding of API testing concepts (REST and/or GraphQL), including request/response validation, authentication, and status/error handling.
- Familiarity with test reporting and CI-integrated tooling (e.g., Allure, JUnit, HTML reporters) and interpreting results to triage failures.
- Experience with, or willingness to learn, performance/load testing tools (e.g., k6).
- Comfort with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative branching/PR workflows.
- Automated testing experience with complex workflows on a UI and data layer is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems/Management, Operations Management/Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Systems Analysis, or a related field (or commensurate professional experience).
- 2-3 years of professional work experience.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work at a computer for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
