About the role
Ascent Aviation Services is one of the largest aviation maintenance, repair, overhaul, storage and reclamation operations in the world. We are actively interviewing for a Quality Assurance Auditor position, which will begin after the first of the year. This role operates in a complex, multi-authority environment, holding approvals from the FAA, EASA, TCCA, and other global regulators.
Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct, and document internal, external, and vendor audits per FAA, foreign air authority, C.A.S.E. 1A, and AS9100 standards, as well as related criteria such as NFPA 10 and NFPA 407.
- Identify and track findings, issue Corrective Action Requests (CARs), and support effective Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) development.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal departments, customers, and regulatory authorities.
- Perform daily surveillance, Vendor On-Site (VOS), and Work-In-Progress (WIP) audits to ensure ongoing compliance and process health.
- Analyze audit data for trends, provide metrics, and participate in continuous improvement projects.
- Conduct supplier audits and verify subcontractor quality system compliance.
- Support investigations of product or process deficiencies and assist in developing robust corrective actions.
- Mentor and coach team members to build auditing, analytical, and quality system awareness across the organization.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of FAA regulations and quality system standards recognized by foreign air authorities.
- Strong communication and documentation skills with the ability to clearly present findings and expectations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic data-tracking tools.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, including structured root cause and corrective action development.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills in managing multiple audits and corrective actions.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across teams.
- A professional, proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required, BS in aviation or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of quality assurance auditing experience in aviation maintenance, manufacturing, or another regulated quality environment.
- ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) certification preferred.
Skills
- Regulatory bridge-builders — fluent in FAA requirements and conversant with foreign air authority expectations.
- System thinkers — able to connect training, procedures, tools, and human factors into a single quality picture.
- Strong communicators — clear, factual, and constructive when presenting findings or feedback.
- Coaches, not cops — driving improvement and accountability through collaboration, not confrontation.
- Curious professionals — always asking why a deviation occurred, not just what happened.
- Integrity-driven — trusted by both leadership and technicians to be fair, accurate, and consistent.
