About the role
Mustang Exterior Production Vehicle Team (PVT) uses design thinking and user experience methods to deliver breakthrough products and services in a vehicle production environment that delight customers. Contribute to advancements in autonomy, electrification, smart mobility technologies, and more. This position is located at Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Flat Rock, Michigan.
Responsibilities
- Own functional warranty quality objectives for the base function CPR & (R/1000, time to contain, time to resolve).
- Respond to plant/supplier issues before they leave assembly plants.
- Evaluate chronic and new warranty issues to push for cut-off and resolution ASAP.
- Co-chair Variability Reduction Team (VRT) meetings and report-outs at the plant.
- Lead problem-solving, containment, and resolution of Interior 0-3 MIS and 36 MIS warranty.
- Analyze warranty claims and customer verbatims; contact dealer technicians for repair information.
- Travel to dealers on occasion to review and root-cause issues on vehicles.
- Lead 8D’s, A3’s, SIMPSN, JIRA, and problem resolution for IRIS Warranty communication and coordination with VFG/Plant/Others; author projects, manage implementation, calculate impact, and handle warranty glidepath forecasting.
- Support and author current-production WERS Concerns and Alerts for Interior systems.
- Diagnose Body Interior related concerns; work with PD & core engineering, plant, and suppliers on quality Root Cause ICA, PCA, and Detection.
- Conduct investigations for related quality concerns identified on vehicles or individual parts and work with the plant and engineering personnel on resolution.
- Present to leadership on issue details to communicate root cause and corrective actions.
- Help with launches of Mustang programs to resolve common or new issues and ensure build readiness and manufacturing feasibility.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to resolve plant disruptions and drive root cause analysis and corrective action implementation (8D, 5 Why, etc.).
- Support supplier and PD requests for component changes (SREA); run requested trials.
- Support major/minor launches, starting at LR with focus on quality (Launch team leads).
- Support Stop Ship and prevention—identify issues, coordinate subject matter experts, advise severity and next steps/containment; interface with CCRG.
- Support TVM objectives, including maintaining quality and completing assembly plant trials.
- Support weekly Vehicle Function Group (VFG) subsystem Quality Meetings, weekly Functional Quality Reviews (FQR) with the Functional Chief Engineer, daily plant quality meeting, and monthly Vehicle Quality Reviews (VQR).
- Support plant FTT, IQ, and High Hurts when design element is involved.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in PD, manufacturing, and/or quality roles.
- Proficient in structured problem-solving techniques (8D, 3L5Y, DMAIC, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Knowledge of GSAR, IRIS, SIMPSN, and other quality tools.
- Highly motivated and capable of leading cross-functional resolution of quality issues.
- Capable of succinctly communicating issues/resolution to all levels of leadership.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in PD, manufacturing, and/or quality roles (preferred).
- Six Sigma greenbelt or blackbelt certified (preferred).

Pay
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility, and competitive market value.
