Purchasing Supervisor

About the role
We are looking for a Purchasing Supervisor to join our team at our Roebuck, SC location. The primary responsibilities include supply/demand balance, inventory management, supplier performance evaluation, ensuring material availability, and promoting teamwork and continuous improvement. In this role, the candidate will work closely with Manufacturing, Procurement, and Planning to support production and will supervise 5-7 team members. This position reports to the Supply Chain/Logistics Manager.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate supply and demand across suppliers and manufacturing locations, partnering with planning, manufacturing, procurement, and finance teams to meet customer requirements, maximize performance, and achieve financial and inventory targets.
- Manage supplier relationships, sourcing models, logistics agreements, supplier performance, and improvement initiatives while mitigating supply chain risks to ensure continuity of supply.
- Oversee procurement activities through SAP, including MRP management, requisitions, purchase orders, GR/IR discrepancies, and late purchase order processing to ensure timely material availability.
- Analyze SAP master data, demand forecasts, inventory levels, and large datasets to support sourcing strategies, optimize supply chain performance, and improve decision-making by component and supplier.
- Evaluate and continuously improve supply chain operations by collaborating with corporate resources and implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency, reliability, and cost savings.
- Lead, develop, and guide the purchasing team by balancing workloads, providing direction, promoting teamwork, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Oversee purchasing strategy and operational execution, including support for customer and engineering changes, while ensuring delivery reliability, inventory performance, and cost reduction objectives are achieved.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing an MRP system.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and working in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading, coaching, or supervising employees, projects, or cross-functional teams.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Proficiency using SAP, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office applications in a manufacturing or supply chain environment.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment within the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- APICS CSCP and/or CPIM certification.
- Lean Manufacturing experience.
- Experience utilizing advanced Microsoft Office tools, including Excel formulas, pivot tables, and macros.
Pay
$74,970 – $128,520
