Purchasing Supervisor
Location: 365 Haacke Drive, Chestertown, MD 21620
Work Hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday
About the role
The Dixon Group is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to develop and implement sourcing strategies that maintain optimal inventory levels while securing cost-effective solutions. You will nurture supplier relationships, analyze market trends, and collaborate across departments to ensure the timely delivery of materials. Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Direct, coach, and mentor the Purchasing team, managing daily tasks, performance evaluations, and staffing needs while promoting a positive, accountable work environment aligned with Dixon’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Develop purchasing strategies, optimize inventory levels, identify single-source vulnerabilities, and implement dual-sourcing or contingency plans to mitigate supply disruption risks.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors, negotiating contracts and pricing terms to ensure the best overall value.
- Partner with Production and Operations to ensure material availability; work with Accounts Payable to resolve three-way matching discrepancies and approve POs; and collaborate with Quality Assurance to manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Return to Vendor processes, and supplier credits.
- Analyze market trends, monitor supplier performance, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
- Track and report on core purchasing metrics, including Purchase Price Variance (PPV), On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery, supplier lead times, and inventory turnover.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement (manufacturing environment preferred), alongside proven leadership experience managing a team.
- Proficiency in purchasing software, tools, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Dedicated, detail-oriented team player and self-starter who excels at building relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- APICS, CPIM, or CSCP certification, as well as familiarity with Logility Supply Chain Planning, are preferred.
Pay
Pay Range: $65,000 - $90,000/Annually
