About the role
Performs a variety of simple and routine to moderately difficult governmental purchasing, standards and specifications development, and contracts procurement work within the Judiciary's centralized purchasing program.
Responsibilities
- Identifies, clarifies, and specifies requirements of products with users and vendors.
- Drafts specifications for formal bids and updates such specifications to ensure their currency and applicability.
- Understands and applies common purchasing resources (e.g., catalogs, buyers' guides).
- Knows and applies documentation requirements for formal purchases (e.g., bonding, indemnification, insurance, severability).
- Responds to inquiries regarding the bidding process.
Requirements
- Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Specialized Experience Requirement: One-half (1/2) year of responsible professional experience in purchasing involving:
- Working with users and vendors in identifying, clarifying, and specifying requirements of products.
- Drafting specifications for formal bids and updating such specifications to ensure their currency and applicability.
- Understanding and applying common purchasing resources (e.g., catalogs, buyers' guides).
- Knowledge and application of documentation requirements for formal purchases (e.g., bonding, indemnification, insurance, severability).
- Responding to inquiries regarding the bidding process.
Qualifications
- Satisfactory completion of all academic requirements from an accredited college or university for a Bachelor's degree with a major in purchasing or a degree in public or business administration with course work equivalent to a major in purchasing may be substituted for one-half (½) year of the required specialized experience.
- Satisfactory completion of all academic requirements from an accredited university for a Master's degree in public or business administration may be substituted for one-half (½) year of the required specialized experience.
- Satisfactory completion of all academic requirements from an accredited university for a Master's degree with a major in purchasing or a Master's degree in public or business administration with course work equivalent to a major in purchasing may be substituted for one (1) year of the required specialized experience.
- Satisfactory completion of all academic requirements for a degree in law (LLB, JD or equivalent) from an accredited school of law may be substituted for one-half (½) year of the required specialized experience.
