About the Role
We're looking for a Purchasing Specialist to handle our purchasing operations. You'll work through everything from purchase requests through order closeout, working with vendors to source quality materials and services while keeping documentation organized and compliant with government contracting rules.
Responsibilities
- Process purchase orders from start to finish
- Find, evaluate, and build relationships with suppliers
- Get and compare quotes; keep pricing decisions documented
- Track vendor performance on delivery, quality, and responsiveness
- Handle any issues with late or defective orders—troubleshoot and find alternative vendors when needed
- Keep internal teams updated on order status
- Apply contracting rules to purchase orders
- Keep organized, audit-ready files for every purchase
- Document pricing decisions and sourcing choices
- Be ready for audits and compliance checks
- Research and identify qualified suppliers
- Evaluate vendors on price, delivery, capability, and reliability
- Build and manage a preferred vendor list
Requirements
- 4+ years of purchasing, supply chain, or buyer experience
- High school diploma minimum
- Experience with ERP systems (Unanet, NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Problem-solving mindset—resourceful when finding solutions
- Attention to detail with documentation
- Ability to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Associate's in business, supply chain, procurement, or related field
- Government contracting or defense contractor background
- Government contract administration experience
Pay
$25.50 - $33.50 hourly. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budget allocated for this role.
