About the Role

The Purchasing Manager will lead centralized purchasing operations across all Ace Electric Divisions, developing and executing strategic procurement processes for project-direct buyouts, company-wide commodity purchasing, rebate programs, tool procurement, hardware procurement, rental equipment management, and vendor partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Procurement Leadership
    • Lead centralized purchasing activities for all divisions
    • Develop and implement procurement strategies that leverage company buying power
    • Manage project buyouts in collaboration with Project Managers and Division Operations
    • Create standardized purchasing procedures and best practices across all divisions
    • Analyze procurement performance and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement
    • Establish and maintain procurement metrics and reporting
  • Project Procurement Support
    • Support project teams with material procurement planning and buyout
    • Assist with identifying long-lead equipment and critical path items
    • Monitor procurement schedules to align with project timelines
    • Maintain project procurement logs and material status
    • Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure timely deliveries and minimize project delays
    • Support tracking of owner-furnished and contractor-furnished materials
  • Commodity Purchasing Programs
    • Develop and manage company-wide commodity purchasing programs
    • Consolidate purchases to maximize volume discounts
    • Negotiate pricing agreements with electrical distributors and suppliers
    • Monitor market conditions, material pricing trends, and supply chain risks
    • Create standardized purchasing agreements for repetitive products and services
  • Vendor & Manufacturer Relations
    • Develop strategic relationships with manufacturers, distributors, rental vendors, and service providers
    • Lead annual pricing negotiations and purchasing agreements
    • Coordinate vendor performance reviews and scorecards
    • Resolve supplier disputes and delivery issues
    • Evaluate and onboard new vendors and suppliers
    • Represent Ace Electric at vendor meetings, industry events, and rebate negotiations
  • Rebate Program Management
    • Manage manufacturer rebate and incentive programs
    • Administer tool rebate programs and equipment incentive programs
    • Manage hardware rebate and purchasing incentive programs
    • Track rebates earned and ensure proper collection and accounting
    • Identify new opportunities to increase purchasing returns and supplier incentives
  • Logistics & Inventory Coordination
    • Oversee material logistics and delivery scheduling
    • Support warehouse operations and material distribution
    • Monitor material receipts and delivery confirmations
    • Coordinate freight program and delivery schedules
    • Support equipment transportation and logistics
    • Improve material tracking processes from purchase through installation
  • Purchase Order Management
    • Establish and maintain company purchasing policies and procedures
    • Oversee Purchase Order (PO) creation, implementation, tracking, and closure
    • Ensure proper authorization workflows are followed
    • Monitor committed costs against budgets
    • Ensure purchasing activities comply with company financial policies
  • Invoice & Receipt Reconciliation
    • Support the procurement team in verifying invoicing versus received materials
    • Coordinate with Accounting to resolve discrepancies
    • Ensure accurate receiving documentation is maintained
    • Monitor open commitments and unmatched invoices
    • Improve procurement visibility through reporting and system integration
  • Equipment & Rental Management
    • Manage company rental equipment procurement and agreements
    • Negotiate rental agreements and master service contracts
    • Monitor equipment utilization and rental costs
    • Develop strategies to reduce unnecessary rental expenses
    • Coordinate equipment allocations across projects and divisions
  • Technology & Systems Utilization
    • Maintain procurement records, reports, dashboards, and analytics
    • Drive adoption of purchasing and logistics technology
    • Develop procurement workflows utilizing Microsoft solutions and business intelligence tools
    • Leverage search tools, vendor databases, and market intelligence platforms to support procurement decisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of strategic purchasing experience in the electrical construction industry
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership or management position
  • Previous experience in field electrical installation preferred
  • Previous project management experience preferred
  • Valid state driver’s license as required by job conditions or company policy
  • Successful completion of references, background check, and drug screen testing

Working Conditions

  • Climate-controlled office setting with varying degrees of stress and time pressure
  • Considerable time making repetitive motions (e.g., typing, using a mouse)
  • Considerable time sitting, using telephone, and computer
  • Sounds and noise levels may be distracting or uncomfortable
  • Periodic travel to division offices, warehouses, vendor locations, and construction job sites
  • Occasional warehouse visits or inventory inspections requiring standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • May be required to operate a company vehicle for business-related travel
  • Ability to safely navigate active construction and warehouse environments while wearing required PPE
