Purchasing Internship

Overview

Meritage Homes is a Top 5 builder dedicated to building energy‑efficient homes and communities. The company offers an internship program designed to immerse interns in the business, establish a network, develop skills, and have fun. The Purchasing Intern will learn how residential construction procures labor and materials, including product budget analysis, base house cost review, options and margins, and vendor/contract negotiations, while gaining exposure to broader business strategy and cross‑functional projects.

This internship is full‑time, in‑person during the summer 2027 internship season in the Dallas Fort Worth metro area. Meritage Homes does not provide Visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with internal business leaders to learn the homebuilding industry, the Meritage business model, and an assigned functional area such as construction, land, marketing, operations, purchasing, finance, or human resources.
• Learn Meritage’s core values and how they drive everything the company does.
• Translate classroom experience into practical application during the internship.
• Participate in cross‑functional projects involving other interns and business leaders centered around current business challenges.
• Present real‑world business recommendations to senior leadership to help drive strategy.
• Write a paper focusing on the internship experience or another assigned topic.

• Relevant coursework/majors: Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Real Estate, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Project Management.
