Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Purchase goods and services for use by the hotel.
  • Manage inventory levels to maximize fulfillment while minimizing inventory costs.
  • Seek to obtain the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible cost.
  • Conduct sourcing, RFx, negotiate and award contracts/purchase orders that ensure the correct amount of the product or service is received at the appropriate time and at the most favorable cost.
  • Make return and follow-up on calls to maintain proper communication with clients, departmental staff and management staff.
  • Confer with departments regarding requirements, specifications, quality of merchandise and delivery requirements.
  • Set-up purchase documents and acquire approvals to assure compliance with established purchasing procedures.
  • Confirm orders with suppliers, securing firm delivery dates, checking for shortages and discrepancies, and perform follow-up activities with suppliers as necessary.
  • Solve invoice/receiving/inventory discrepancies.

  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with business contacts and team members at all levels of the company.
  • A strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, customers, and public.
  • The ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products: Project, Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher and Outlook.
  • Simple reading, writing, math, and task completion skills.
  • Clerical, compiling, analyzing, following instructions, influencing others, memorization, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making skills.
  • Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.

Education And/or Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance or Business is preferred.
  • Three to five years’ purchasing experience or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly sitting and occasionally standing and walking during the duration of their shift.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift/carry and push/pull 50lbs or less.
  • The team member will constantly have repetitive use of their dominant hand.
  • Constantly have finger dexterity of both hands.
  • Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.

Work Environment

  • Work performed indoors, alone and frequently with and around others.
  • Team Member will perform work face-to-face including verbal contact with others on extended shifts around computer equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • Team Member may be exposed to confined areas and secondhand smoke.
