Purchasing Associate

About the role

The Purchasing Associate is responsible for the procurement of all products within his/her assigned region while maximizing relationships with vendors and minimizing inventory spend.

Responsibilities

• Form and maintain strong vendor relations
• Identify new suppliers and assist negotiating supply agreements and contracts as needed, including discount structures, volume rebates, shipping, etc.
• Identify opportunities for cost management/value addition
• Forecast procurement needs and reorder points
• Ensure supplier compliance with all company regulations and requirements, including documentation
• Handle purchasing issues
• Be responsible for resource and supply availability and timing
• Perform cost analysis on items, quantities and holding costs
• Increase ROI thru maintaining quality vendor relationships
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
• Previous purchasing or logistics experience, preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Great written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Proficient in all Microsoft applications with the ability to quickly learn new inventory/purchasing systems

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and talking on the phone, attending virtual online meetings, and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
