About the role
The Purchasing Associate is responsible for the procurement of all products within his/her assigned region while maximizing relationships with vendors and minimizing inventory spend.
Responsibilities
- Form and maintain strong vendor relations
- Identify new suppliers and assist negotiating supply agreements and contracts as needed, including discount structures, volume rebates, shipping, etc.
- Identify opportunities for cost management/value addition
- Forecast procurement needs and reorder points
- Ensure supplier compliance with all company regulations and requirements, including documentation
- Handle purchasing issues
- Be responsible for resource and supply availability and timing
- Perform cost analysis on items, quantities and holding costs
- Increase ROI thru maintaining quality vendor relationships
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
- Previous purchasing or logistics experience, preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Great written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient in all Microsoft applications with the ability to quickly learn new inventory/purchasing systems
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and talking on the phone, attending virtual online meetings, and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
