About the Role
Yellowstone Club is a private residential community in Big Sky, Montana, offering its Members the world’s only private ski and golf community. Our employees make the Yellowstone Club experience come alive by providing the highest level of guest service and ensuring no detail is too small to overlook. The Procurement department is seeking a Purchasing Assistant for the upcoming Winter season (November – April). This role supports the culinary department by assisting in the purchasing and stocking of produce, dry goods, and frozen goods.
Responsibilities
- Ensure outstanding guest service by greeting and acknowledging every Member and guest, maintaining service standards, and demonstrating product knowledge.
- Guarantee total guest satisfaction while displaying hospitality and professionalism at all times.
- Handle all guest transactions in a legal and ethical manner.
- Apply property safety and security procedures to maintain a secure environment for employees, Members, and guests.
- Assist in purchasing food products for culinary and event needs.
- Maintain an active process for measuring supply inventory and determining purchasing needs based on the season.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and establish long-term purchasing arrangements with vendors.
- Compare produce deliveries with purchase orders and contact vendors to resolve discrepancies.
- Oversee proper food storage and rotation.
- Assist in vendor selection, order placement, and arrangement of service contracts.
- Place food orders via phone, internet, or in person.
- Maintain records and follow-up files of purchases, shipments, and related matters.
- Inspect received products for quality and quantity to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Communicate constantly with co-workers, management, other departments, and vendors.
- Perform duties in accordance with Club policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Meet departmental productivity, organization, punctuality, attendance, and consistency standards.
- Maintain a positive, respectful attitude and treat Members, guests, vendors, and co-workers with professionalism.
- Uphold Member privacy at all times.
- Maintain a clean, neat appearance and project a favorable image of Yellowstone Club.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with potential for long hours due to business demands.
- Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or vocational training; minimum of one year in the food industry.
- Excellent communication skills and a proven history of effective supply management.
- Ability to speak clearly and effectively with Members, guests, co-workers, and vendors.
- Basic math skills for performing calculations.
- Problem-solving ability and awareness of when to seek managerial assistance.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a food purchasing role.
Work Environment
The role is primarily performed in a climate-controlled environment, but may require working outside in extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, or other inclement weather as needed.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, or operate a computer.
- Frequently required to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Constantly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
- Constantly required to use hands and fingers to handle, organize, or lift items.
- Constantly required to use vision for accuracy, neatness, attention to detail, and thoroughness.

Schedule
Seasonal position for the Winter season, November – April. Requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and long hours as needed.
