Purchasing Analyst

About the role

Compiles information and records of material by performing duties such as order entry, and order changes. This role involves extensive computer use and interaction with various departments, including production, sales, shipping, warehouse, and common carrier personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies nomenclature and specifications of purchase requests
  • Searches inventory records or warehouse to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity
  • Initiates purchase requisitions
  • Writes or types purchase order and sends copy to supplier and department originating request
  • Compiles records of items purchased and computes total cost of items purchased
  • Confers with production, sales, shipping, warehouse, or common carrier personnel to determine status of purchase order
  • Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries and quality and maintains information regarding those suppliers
  • Verifies bills from suppliers with bids and purchase orders and approves bills for payment
  • Sorts and files purchasing records and compiles statistics and prepares various reports for management regarding purchased items
  • Filing of documents and performing all other duties as assigned

Work Environment

The employee is regularly exposed to dirty or oily conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
