About the role

Purchasing Agents (PA) work and negotiate with suppliers to purchase goods and services for the company. The PA is assigned specific commodities they are responsible for.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate all component requirements to potential supply sources, ensuring strict conformance to Konecranes product specifications and quality program.
  • Work with internal and external functional groups to ensure timelines, cost structure, contractual obligations, and all manufacturing/engineering needs are met.
  • Source and negotiate the most favorable overall “value” and lead-time without compromising quality or customer requirements.
  • Conduct thorough review and comparison of all major quoting activity to project and sales estimates to ensure margins and impacts are realized and communicated when necessary.
  • Perform continuous system maintenance at the part number, supplier, and PA levels to ensure system integrity and accuracy of information.
  • Review open purchase requisitions daily and source material from suppliers with the required capabilities, capacity, and quality program for a demanding market.
  • Obtain quotes for other functional groups such as Engineering, Estimating, and Service as needed.
  • Act on system-generated material exceptions by expediting, delaying, or cancelling on-order material as necessary, and communicate results to the required group or individual.
  • Write and document work instructions for our ERP system as well as general workflow to allow continuous improvement.
  • Meet all annual goals and objectives assigned by the Purchasing Manager, with constant communication throughout the year. Goals may be adjusted as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates or higher degree preferred but not required.
  • 5+ years’ experience working within a procurement role, including commodity-based buying and one-off quantities.
  • Background/experience with heavy steel, welding, and machining is a plus.
  • 20% travel is required.
