About the Role

CooperWorks Ind. is seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent / Inventory Control Specialist to manage procurement activities and maintain accurate inventory levels supporting manufacturing operations. Candidates with laminate, cabinetry, millwork, furniture, or related manufacturing experience are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase laminates, substrates, adhesives, hardware, and manufacturing materials.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Issue purchase orders and track deliveries.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative sourcing options.
  • Collaborate with production to forecast material requirements.

Inventory Control Responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, laminates, hardware, and production supplies.
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits.
  • Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory transactions in ERP/MRP systems.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and production to avoid stockouts and excess inventory.
  • Develop inventory control procedures that improve accuracy and reduce waste.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of purchasing, inventory control, or supply chain experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory management software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the laminate, cabinetry, furniture, millwork, or woodworking industries.
  • Knowledge of decorative laminates, edge banding, substrates, adhesives, and hardware.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory planning.
