Purchasing Agent/Buyer

Responsibilities

• Evaluates sales records and checks inventory levels for equipment and supplies.
• Assists in taking inventory and checks for outdated supplies.
• Coordinates ordering of routine and non-routine supplies from departmental requisitions.
• Ensures adequate inventory on hand for interdepartmental orders.
• Reviews market variations that may impact supply cost and identifies cost-effective suppliers.
• Evaluates suppliers based on quality, price, and availability.
• Acts as a contact for problem-solving between Shenandoah Medical Center (SMC) and vendors.
• Assists with monitoring price competitiveness analysis and performs purchase analysis.
• Reviews resources with the manager and independent vendors.
• Delivers superior customer service to support SMC’s goals and objectives.
• Receives and stores materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Assists in unpacking shipments, inspecting for damages or defects, and verifying accuracy.
• Moves shipments to appropriate storage areas and ensures orders are closed out.
• Assists in filling supply requisitions from stock and delivers to departments.
• Prepares requisitions and assists with various purchasing functions as needed.
• Maintains organization and cleanliness of the storeroom.
• Organizes materials on shelves and verifies inventory counts.
• Restocks shelves from available overstock locations.
• Organizes products as deliveries arrive before they are received.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
