Purchasing Agent / Buyer

About the role

Maumee Supply is seeking an organized and driven individual to join their team. The primary responsibilities include buying assigned buy lines at the best possible price, negotiating prices, returning goods, following up on returns, reviewing product mixes, assisting with product inquiries, troubleshooting products, communicating with manufacturers and reps, and stocking the most desirable products.

Responsibilities

• Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
• Negotiate prices, discounts, and transportation arrangements for merchandise.
• Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
• Work closely with the inside and outside sales team to assist with sourcing information and pricing for special ordered materials and non-stock products.
• Analyze and monitor sales records, trends, and economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns and determine inventory needs.
• Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production, and distribution capabilities.
• Interview and work closely with vendors to obtain and develop desired products.
• Maintain inventory records, RGA, product files, pricing files, purchasing files, and reports.
• Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and make necessary changes.
• Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, delivery, product performance, and inventories.
• Expedite backordered and overdue merchandise and update inventory systems.

Requirements

• Must be organized and detail-oriented.
• Must have Microsoft Excel experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in the plumbing and heating industry is encouraged but not required.

Skills

• Microsoft Excel proficiency.
