About the role

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Road Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnose, and make advanced repairs at customer locations. This role ensures equipment operates safely and effectively to avoid downtime. Our fleet varies by location but primarily includes Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools, and equipment. Specialty lines locations may feature large-scale power generators, pumps, HVAC systems, and oil/gas-related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of makes, models, and equipment in challenging remote locations.
• Diagnose and execute advanced repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
• Work with hydraulic and electrical systems, applying troubleshooting fundamentals.
• Adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Provide own mechanic’s tools of trade as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or equivalent training desired.
• 1-2 years of mechanic experience with diesel equipment, heavy construction equipment, or specialty lines equipment (e.g., large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC, or oil/gas equipment).
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (CDL may be required in some locations; must be 21 years of age where applicable).
• Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages) may be required based on location.

Skills

• Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems and troubleshooting.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, bend, squat, crouch, reach, and work indoors/outdoors as required.
• Flexibility to handle changing priorities in a dynamic work environment.

Eligibility for benefits begins on the first of the month following 30 days from your start date.

Pay

Base pay range: $21.38 - $29.39 per hour. Starting rate may vary based on factors including location, education, training, and experience.

Schedule

• 12-25 vacation days depending on years of service.
• 5 sick days.
• 6 holidays, 2 half-day holidays, and 2 floating holidays.
• 1 inclusion day and 1 volunteer day.
