About the role

The Rapid Group is seeking an experienced Pump & Motor Mechanic to disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, test, and reassemble basic and routine AC and DC electromechanical motors and related equipment. This position ensures repairs and assemblies meet customer, safety, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret work scopes to determine job status, work authorizations and limitations, reported problems, and expected serviceability.
  • Disassemble basic and routine electromechanical equipment while identifying parts, configurations, and component conditions.
  • Properly mark and identify components, take required photos, and complete all documentation accurately.
  • Assemble basic and routine pumps, motors, and electromechanical equipment, including ball and roller bearings and mechanical seals.
  • Perform pretesting of electrical and mechanical components and ensure proper lubrication per customer standards.
  • Conduct basic electrical and mechanical testing and document results accordingly.
  • Troubleshoot known or suspected mechanical and electrical issues.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with AC and DC electromechanical motors, pumps, or related equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble pumps and motors.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical failures and troubleshoot problems.
  • Experience dismantling and assembling pumps and related components.
  • Ability to perform alignments and use precision tools.
  • Machine shop or electrical background is a plus.
  • Must supply own basic mechanical tools up to 1 inch.
  • Ability to read manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass background checks and a pre-employment drug test.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented and safety-focused.

Schedule

  • Full-time, onsite, field-based role in Paterson, NJ.
  • Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–4:30 pm.
  • Overtime and on-call shifts may be required based on customer needs.
  • Travel to customer sites may be required.
