Pulmonary Rehabilitation Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities

• Accountable to the pulmonary rehabilitation medical director, and the director of the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and wellness program.
• Responsible for providing adequate staffing of the pulmonary rehabilitation department.
• Assumes total responsibility for the pulmonary rehabilitation department in the absence of the director.
• Keeps the director informed and up to date of department operations.
• Performs all duties of a rehabilitative respiratory therapist such as family/patient COPD education.
• Makes sure exercise sessions are safe and appropriate for patients.
• Monitors and adjusts patients' exercise prescriptions based on their responses.
• Recruits, interviews, evaluates, and schedules new patients.
• Teaches patients about the pulmonary rehabilitation program.
• Trains patients on inpatient smoking cessation and other bedside respiratory care.
• Administers the 6-minute walk test and nebulizer treatments.
• Reports patient progress to doctors and assists with quality improvement.
• Maintains compliance with regulatory standards and updates policies and procedures.
• Maintains patient safety by monitoring equipment and reporting issues.
• Serves as a role model for cardiovascular health.

Job Specifications

• Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• RN, RRT, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Current state licensure or certification required.
• Two to three years of pulmonary rehabilitation experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification preferred.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Skills:
• Functioning in a stressful environment.
• Staying updated with changing technology and regulations.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of emergency equipment use.
• Basic EKG and arrhythmia interpretation.
• Abilities:
