Responsibilities

  • Provides direct clinical services for pre-operative and post-operative patients. and/or pre-procedure and post-procedure patients, within institutional guidelines and utilizing evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the patients physician.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, explaining the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patients family, and staff.
  • Performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patients clinical status and documents procedures in accordance with hospital requirements.
  • Supports IRB approved clinical research/trials though a variety of activities including but not limited to: obtaining consent, ordering diagnostic tests, recording laboratory and diagnostic results, administering therapeutic interventions, and documenting and reporting patient outcomes including toxicities or adverse events.
  • Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.

Ambulatory Care Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribes necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
  • Takes patient histories, conducts physical examinations, writes progress notes, prepares patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings, obtains psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assumes responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
  • Schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures.
  • Explains necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedure(s) to the patient, patients family, and staff.
  • Maintains record of each patients progress, consulting with supervising physician when patients progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing Required and Masters degree a Masters in Nursing, Required or Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistants program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board Required.
  • Work Experience: No experience required as a PA or NP Demonstrates years of experience with and knowledge of current medical, surgical and pharmaceutical treatment modalities. Required Experience in program development, quality improvement, research, development of evidence based clinical protocols, and regulatory readiness program planning. Required Previous experience in professional presentations and group education.
