Pulmonary Hypertension Registered Nurse Coordinator

Description University Physicians Association is seeking qualified applicants for a Pulmonary Hypertension Registered Nurse Coordinator at University Pulmonary & Critical Care within the UT Medical Center. Candidates must be detail-oriented and able to work under deadlines in a very fast-paced office.

Duties

  • Cook up outpatient PH Clinic processes.
  • Develop/implement PH protocols.
  • Cook up/facilitate prescription management.
  • Cook up/facilitate patient transition from inpatient to outpatient.
  • Cook up/facilitate nursing/staff PH education (Outpatient/Inpatient).
  • Represent PHA National Program and Committee.
  • Manage PHAR Program.

Supervision

  • Reports to the Clinic Supervisor, Practice Manager, and Medical Director.
  • Reports to the PH Director Physician.

Physical Demands

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, some bending, and stretching.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate medical equipment, telephone, and other office equipment.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.
  • Requires possible exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids.

Working Conditions

  • Normal clinical office environment.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN).
  • At least six months of experience in a similar clinical setting is preferred.
  • Minimum associate-level RN degree.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform basic clinical skills - phlebotomy, injections, IV therapy, various testing as needed.
  • Ability to adjust work pace to facilitate clinic flow.
  • Skill in verbal communication.
  • Ability to apply policies and procedures to daily scenarios and deal with a variety of challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively with physician(s), patients, staff and the public.
