About the role
The Supervisor Respiratory Therapy is responsible for planning, implementing, directing, and controlling activities and operations on the assigned shift in Respiratory Care. This role models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements short term plans and schedules in order to keep operations moving smoothly.
- Develops and implements processes through orientation, training, and education to ensure that the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, improved, and demonstrated throughout their employment.
- Affirms day-to-day shift operations run smoothly and efficiently within established guidelines.
- Assists Director in Budget process and Human Resource utilization.
- Evaluates performance of staff annually.
- Counsels and issues corrective action when necessary.
- Recommends hiring, promotion, and discharge of Associates.
Requirements
- Required - Associates Degree Respiratory Care
- PREFERRED - Bachelor's Degree Allied Health
- PREFERRED - Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Care
- PREFERRED - Technical Degree or Diploma Respiratory Care
- Required - RRT 3-5 years
- Required - Registered Respiratory Therapist - Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Respiratory Care
- Required - Registered Respiratory Therapist - National - National Board for Respiratory Care
- REQUIRED - BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association
Qualifications
- Demonstrable leadership potential.
- Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials, such as patient records.
- Ability to communicate verbally with Associates and management and physicians.
- Knowledge of budget and financial management principles and methods.
- Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of own and others' work flow.
Skills
- Good balance and coordination.
- Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
- Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
