Pulmo Rehab Specialist

About the Role

We are staffing respiratory care practitioners (full-time, part-time, or consultant basis) to implement the respiratory regimen and assist with pulmonary participant support. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute expertise to offer comprehensive treatment strategies, driving positive outcomes for individual participants and the pulmonary health and rehabilitation program.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with rehab team members about individual patient findings, concerns, and program improvement issues.
• Strive toward proficiency in clinical competencies.
• Use interpersonal and observational skills to identify appropriate psycho-social adaptation to illness and/or psychopathology (e.g., depression, anger, excessive anxiety).
• Assess patients' modifiable risk factors and offer support and strategies for successful therapeutic lifestyle changes (TLC).
• Utilize contemporary theories of health behavior change to help participants identify learning and lifestyle modification goals.
• Participate in the program's educational efforts, classes, and/or individual sessions.
• Assist in the initial assessment and orientation of new participants.
• Collaborate with other staff members to develop individualized treatment plans.
• Apply knowledge of exercise science to a population with pulmonary disease and other potential co-morbidities.
• Develop and adjust individual exercise prescriptions based on GXT, daily patient response, and physician recommendations.
• Supervise exercise sessions, monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise.
• Perform oximetry, heart rate, and blood pressure measurements.
• Assess participants pre, during, and post-exercise, making appropriate referrals or recommendations to participants, staff, and the Medical Director.
• Observe telemetry responses when indicated.
• Document initial and daily assessment data in participant records.
• Immediately report new, changing, or significant participant conditions (e.g., oxygen desaturation, dysrhythmias, abnormal blood pressure responses) to the supervising physician.
• Initiate ACLS measures and/or emergency care according to hospital policy.
• Participate in the collection, analysis, and reporting of individual patient and program outcomes.
• Stay current in the field of pulmonary rehabilitation through journals, in-services, and conferences.
• Participate in emergency drills and mock codes on a routine basis.
• Attend all scheduled staff meetings.

Pay

$25 - $45 per hour.
