PUBLIC WORKS - Water Utilities Plant Operator or Trainee

About the role

The City of Nacogdoches Public Works Department is looking for a dedicated Plant Operator or Trainee to help us keep our community's water safe and reliable. If you enjoy hands-on work and want to build a career in public service, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and adjust pumps, motors and chemical feeds to ensure proper treatment processes.
• Collect water samples and perform standard chemical and biological laboratory tests.
• Record data from meters and gauges, maintaining accurate logs of plant activities.
• Perform preventive maintenance on buildings, grounds and specialized equipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• A valid Texas Driver license.
• The ability to obtain a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class D Wastewater License within one (1) year of hire date.

Qualifications

Pay is dependent upon possession of Class A, B, C or D Wastewater License. Certificate/license pay up to $200.00 per month, depending on additional license(s) obtained

Skills

• Working knowledge of wastewater treatment plant operations, safety procedures and permitting requirements.
• Familiarity with standard laboratory tests and procedures.
