About the role
Under the direction of the Town Administrator, the Foreman will be responsible for overseeing and supervising various public works staff and activities, including road maintenance, infrastructure repair, and other municipal services. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring all public work activities are performed in accordance with standards set by OSHA, ANSI, the Town, County and State. All candidates must have a high level of professionalism and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of public works crews involved in road repair, stormwater management, street cleaning, landscaping, daily maintenance of town property, and other municipal services
- Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations and standards
- Inspect work of crew members, equipment, and materials to ensure quality and safety standards are met
- Provide direction, training, and motivation to crew members, including scheduling and work assignments
- Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked
- Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment, making recommendations for procurement and repairs
- Respond to public inquiries and complaints related to public works projects or operations
- Assist in emergency response activities, such as snow removal or disaster recovery efforts
- Collaborate with other departments and external agencies as needed for project completion
- Ensure the availability of public works during emergencies
- Ensure routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in public works, construction, or related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Knowledge of safety regulations, construction practices, and municipal operations
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL a plus, but not required
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical labor when necessary

Salary: $72,000 - $78,000
