About the role
The City of North Miami is seeking a Public Works Director to join their executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the City Manager, the Public Works Director is responsible for delivering essential services and advancing major infrastructure priorities.
Responsibilities
- Deliver reliable delivery of essential services to approximately 65,000 residents
- Maintain the infrastructure that supports daily life
- Lead the Public Works Department, which is central to the city's transformation
- Manage water, sewer, stormwater, streets, facilities, fleet, and capital improvement planning
- Bring strong municipal public works experience, with depth in various areas
- Have an engineering background and Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Florida, or be able to obtain it within six months of employment
- Engage in both the field and the organization, demonstrating a balanced leadership style grounded in professionalism, consistency, and respect
Requirements

- An engineering background
- A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Florida, or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment
