What We Look For In a Public Speaking Tutor

• Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of speech organization, audience analysis, persuasive and informative speaking techniques, delivery skills including vocal variety, gestures, and eye contact, presentation design, overcoming speech anxiety, and rhetorical strategies.
• Ability to explain Monroe motivated sequence, impromptu speaking frameworks, and effective visual aid usage while preparing students for academic presentations, debate, and professional communication.
• Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching speech construction, delivery technique, and anxiety management for public speaking. Guides students through developing speech outlines, crafting attention-grabbing introductions, organizing supporting evidence, rehearsing delivery, and managing nervousness through preparation and breathing techniques. Emphasizes building confidence through practice and connects public speaking to leadership development, career advancement, and civic engagement.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with public speaking curricula and common challenges such as speech anxiety, organizing ideas logically, and maintaining audience engagement. Adapts instruction using graduated exposure practice, video recording for self-evaluation, and constructive feedback to support students from high school through adult learners building confidence and competence in formal and informal public speaking situations.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style. Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
