Public Sector Account Executive/ Project Manager

About the role

This is a high-impact hybrid position for someone who is equal parts trusted advisor and operational leader, a person who knows how to win public sector business and deliver on every promise made.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Full Lifecycle: Manage public sector furniture projects from contract award through final installation; on time, on budget, and to the agency's expectations.
  • Lead Client Relationships: Serve as the single point of contact for state, local, and federal government clients, building the trust that keeps them coming back.
  • Navigate Government Procurement: Work confidently within cooperative purchasing programs and government contracts to bring the right solutions to each agency.
  • Develop New Opportunities: Identify and pursue new business within the public sector market through agency outreach, industry events, and cooperative contract engagement.
  • Cook for Delivery: Direct project timelines, field teams, and internal resources to ensure every commitment becomes a reality.
  • Represent AOI: Grow AOI's presence in the public sector through client meetings, government-focused events, and community engagement.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3–5 years in project management, account management, or a related field; furniture, AEC, or interiors industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Public Sector Familiarity: Knowledge of government procurement processes, cooperative purchasing vehicles, or public sector sales is a meaningful advantage.
  • Relationship Builder: A natural connector who earns trust with agency stakeholders and maintains it over the long term.
  • Operationally Sharp: Highly organized and detail-oriented; you manage multiple complex projects simultaneously without letting anything slip.
  • Clear Communicator: Confident and professional in both client-facing settings and internal coordination.
  • Tech Savvy: Comfortable with CRM tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software.
