Public Safety Officer (Unarmed/Armed)

About the role

Responsible for a variety of routine safety and emergency security activities while safeguarding students, employees, visitors, patients, and property. First responder to all emergency incidents within the assigned facility.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard students, employees, visitors, patients, and property through routine safety and emergency security activities.
• Serve as first responder to all emergency incidents within the assigned facility.
• Safely de-escalate critical events and use sound judgment when engaging with combative or escalating subjects.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• No prior work experience required; 2 years of experience in general security, military, or other public safety roles preferred.
• Valid Driver License in state, adhering to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy (3500).
• IAHSS Certification as a Security Officer within 1 year of hire.
• Pass pre-employment psychological screening.
• Pass and maintain all training requirements, including certifications in Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, and others as directed.
• Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification preferred.
