Public Safety Officer, Nights

Overview

Responsible for a variety of routine safety and emergency security activities while safeguarding students, employees, visitors, patients and property. First responder to all emergency incidents within the assigned facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine safety and emergency security activities to protect students, employees, visitors, patients, and property.
• Act as the first responder to all emergency incidents within the assigned facility.
• Safely de‑escalate critical events and use sound judgment when engaging combative or escalating subjects.

Qualifications

• Education: H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) – required.
• Work Experience: No experience required; 2 years experience in general security, military, or other public safety – preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid Driver’s License (DL NUMBER 3500) and adherence to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy – required upon hire.
  • IAHSS – Certification as a Security Officer within 1 year – required.
  • Pre‑employment psychological screening – required.
  • Maintain all training requirements, including certifications in Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, and others as directed – required.
  • Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification – preferred.
