Terms of Employment: 52 weeks, 40 hours per week, evening and weekend shift schedule will be required as determined by the college, hourly/non-exempt Classification: ESP. Wage: $18.00 per Hour. Job Summary: Public safety officers assigned to campus and housing perform patrol functions to maintain safety and order, enforce regulations, and assist students, staff, and faculty. Responsibilities Open and close buildings, patrol campus, and observe the conduct of persons to ensure campus security and provide assistance as needed Ensure campus housing security protocols are followed while developing a professional rapport with residents to recognize residents from visitors and other community members Perform foot patrols of all facilities; monitor buildings for unauthorized individuals and/or suspicious activities and report any facility safety hazards Contact emergency responders as needed acting within college procedures and training until emergency personnel arrive Monitor traffic and enforce college parking regulations on campus Perform checks of safety equipment and report malfunctions as required Provide on campus courier services involving money and/or sensitive documents Answer phones, dispatch, issue keys or building access and assist individuals as needed Complete clerical-related duties as they pertain to the task assigned Maintain a working knowledge of alarm systems Serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude and demeanor Complete and maintain CPR/AED certification Perform other duties as assigned Supervision Received: Supervision received from the Campus Safety Manager Education/Experience High school diploma required; associate degree is preferred One to two years of related work experience required Minimum Qualifications Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Excellent organizational and time-management skills Attention to detail and accuracy Proficient computer skills Self-motivated; quick learner Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license and good driving record Reliable with good attendance record Possesses good judgment skills; moral character For further information, contact SC4 Human Resources at hr@sc4.edu or call 810-989-5534.
