Public Safety Officer, Armed, Nights

Responsibilities

• Perform routine safety and emergency security activities to safeguard students, employees, visitors, patients, and property.
• Serve as first responder to all emergency incidents within the assigned facility.
• Safely de-escalate critical events using sound judgment when engaging with combative or escalating subjects.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• 2 years of experience in general security, military, or other public safety roles where carrying a firearm was required in the regular course of duty, or equivalent training and job experience demonstrating responsible handling of weapons and use of force.
• Valid Driver License in state of employment; adherence to Piedmont’s Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500.
• IAHSS Certification as a Security Officer within one year of hire.
• Carry non-lethal weapons such as a Taser CEW and/or a baton.
• Carry a company-issued firearm.
• Pass pre-employment psychological screening.
• Pass and maintain all training requirements to retain employment, including certifications in Firearms, Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, and others as directed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification.
