Public Safety Officer - Armed

About the Role

The Public Safety Officer patrols all areas of their assigned location in all weather conditions. Patrols are conducted on foot or in a variety of vehicles, including hospitals, business occupancy areas, and other assigned areas. The Officer maintains a safe and secure environment, assists visitors, patients, employees, and others with general public safety and safety issues, and responds immediately to all emergency and disaster situations. This position follows broad instructions within established System policies and applicable laws, maintains high ethical and professional standards, and may be required to engage and physically control acts of aggression. Officers are armed qualified and must maintain a flexible schedule to respond to any Lee Health location.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas on foot or in vehicles.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for visitors, patients, and employees.
• Respond to emergency and disaster situations immediately.
• Assist patient care staff as required.
• Engage and physically control acts of aggression or threatened violence when necessary.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to complete tasks or missions.
• Use basic electronics such as digital cameras, CCTV equipment, DVRs/DVDs, multi-line telephones, handheld radios, and other public safety equipment.
• Write concise, detailed reports with proper spelling and grammar using Public Safety software programs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Two years of formal education or training beyond high school (preferred).
• 1 year of healthcare security experience or 2 years of general security, law enforcement, military, or related experience (required).
• 2 years of healthcare security experience (preferred).
• Valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days of employment.
• Class D Security license from the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (required within 30 days of employment; proof of license within 90 days).
• Class G Armed Security license from the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (required within 30 days of employment; proof of license within 90 days).
• All licenses/certifications must remain current and active at all times.
• Basic computer skills, including typing, using Public Safety software, and report writing.

Pay

$21.01 - $24.69 per hour (minimum to midpoint pay rate).

Schedule

Full-time, Shift 3: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
